This section will be composed of the following:
* Our weapons are not physical but spiritual, these weapons are mighty through God. Forweapons to be effective, they must be used. _______________________________ 1. The Holy Spirit John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. * God has not left us alone in this world as orphans; He has sent his Holy Spirit to help us. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is
come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not
speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and
he will shew you things to come.
B. Empowers Us Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. * Power in this case comes from the Greek word "Dunamis" from which we get our word dynamite. Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord and in the power of His might. * If God has given to us armor, then it’s apparent that we need it. He says above "to be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" Like it or not, Christians are involved in a spiritual conflict.
A. Truth John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed
Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
John 17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." * Knowing the truths about Jesus is part of our armor Only way of Salvation His death-burial-Resurrection Jesus was sinless His Virgin birth His 2nd Coming His Headship His Deity Our Advocate Etc. * Accepting the truth of God’s Word, in the face of every circumstance and situation
B. Righteousness * The righteousness of God, is all that God demands and approves, to be in good standing with him, and is ultimately found in Christ. By faith in Jesus Christ, the righteousness of Christ was imputed unto us.Romans 3 :21-22 But now the righteousness of God apart
from the law is manifested, being witnessed by the prophets. 2 Corinthians 5: 17 For he hath made him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Philippians 3 :9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God b~ faith. Abraham's Example: Romans 4:3 For what saith the scripture, Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. * Our Righteousness ( in good standing with God) is not produced by self effort, our works, but is by faith in Jesus Christ. We do good works because we are righteous, not to gain righteousness.* Holiness is a product of our right standing with God ( righteousness) It is the outliving of our position.* God has made provision for us , that if we sin, we can be forgiven and cleansed. Thereby maintaining, our standing with God.1 John 1 :9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. C. The Gospel Matthew 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. * The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ. All men everywhere need to hear the Gospel and be saved because all men everywhere are lost in sin. "Shod our feet with the Gospel of peace" We must be rooted in the Gospel message. Notice the following scripture. Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!'' * All Christians every where should share the Gospel message. It’s not just the responsibility of a few. You and I have the message of eternal life, all about us, people are perishing. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
D. Shield of Faith Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? * In this present evil world that we live in, a Christian’s faith is a shield that quenches every fiery dart ( trial-persecution-doubt ) that Satan throws at us. * The Word of God gives birth to our faith: Our faith in Jesus Christ is based upon the Word of God not how we feel, nor our circumstance or situation, nor even what some may erroneously teach. Romans 10: 8-10 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee,
even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we
preach; Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God. * Realizing that our salvation was purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ, the work of His cross and not our own effort; is part of our armor: as a helmet it protects our minds from Satan’s attacks, of suggesting that we must earn by our own merits, salvation Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. * Good works can not save us. Christians do good works because they are saved. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (NKJV) The Sword in Action: Matthew 4:1- And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost
returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, * The Word of God spoken is a sharp two edged sword. * Christians must speak God’s Word in the face of Satan’s temptations. * If we stand firm in our resisting, Satan will flee. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
F. Prayer In the Spirit Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints Jude Vs.20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 1 Corinthians 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; * Praying in the Spirit edifies ( builds up ) self Intercession Prayer 1 Timothy 2:1-2 Therefore I exhort first of all that
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for
all men, Prayer of Agreement Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For Answered Prayer 1 John 5:14-15...And this is the confidence that we have
in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth
us: ( Hebrews 4:16..come boldly ) 1 John 3:21-22...Beloved, if our heart condemn us not,
then have we confidence toward God. Jesus example: John 8:29...I always do those things that please the Father John 11:41-42...Thou hearest me always John 14:13-14...And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father John 15:7...If ye abide in me, and
my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and John 16:23-24...And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, * Hindrances . ..1 Peter 3:1-7...that your prayers be not hindered Mark 11: 22-26 and Matthew 18:21-35 ...unforgiveness James 4:3...receive not..ask to consume on lusts * Miscellaneous .. James 5:16-20...prayer of righteous man availeth much Mark 11:24, and Matthew 21:22...ask believing Matthew 7:7-...ask and ye shall receive James 1:5-8..ask in faith..don’t be double minded.. 1.. Above every Name Philippians 2:9-10 Wherefore God also hath highly exhalted
him, and given him a name which is above every name. 2. His Name in Salvation Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 3. His Name in Prayer John 16:23-24 ...Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give
it to you. 4. Authority in His Name Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that
believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak
with new tongues; Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying, All power ( authority ) Examples: Acts 3:6-7 Then Peter said, silver and gold have I none;
but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of
Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 16:16-18 And it came to pass, as they went to prayer,
a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which
brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 5. His Name in Baptism Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 6. Anoint in His Name James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with
oil in the name of the Lord: 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 And when he had consulted with the
people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the
beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise
the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever. * Praise brings God on to the scene. 1 Corinthians 1:25, 27 Because the foolishness of God is
wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. * What the world considers weak and foolish, many times is the very things that God uses. God is Worthy of Praise Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, honour, and glory, and blessing. Luke 19:38-40 Saying, Blessed be the King that
cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. * Even the stones give recognition to their creator. Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. * One must take the way of escape. Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be without
covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath
said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Admonitions 1 Timothy 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. |
