Communion, also called the Lord’s supper is an ordinance that the church observes; in remembrance of the sacrifices that the Lord Jesus made. The bread is a symbol of his body, broken for us and the cup, a symbol of his blood, shed for the remission of our sins.

MATTHEW 26:26-28   And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and
  gave it to his disciples, and said, take, eat; this is my body.
  Vs.27   And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, drink ye all
  of it;
  Vs.28   For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for the remission of
  sins.

LUKE 22:17-20   And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, take this and divide it
  among yourselves:
  Vs.18   For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of
  God shall come.
  Vs.19   And he took bread and gave thanks, and broke it and gave unto them, saying,
  this is my body which is given for you: do this in remembrance of me.
  Vs. 20   Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my
  blood, which is shed for you.

1 CORINTHIANS 11:20-34...Vs.26   For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this
  cup, ye do shew the Lords death till he come.
